Announcement

I've decided to publish my knitting posts over at my main blog, Blue Gal, which also includes posts primarily about left-wing politics and occasionally about religion and faith. I've decided there is no point segmenting my life online any more than it already is. Thanks.

Swatched today

A vest is not subject to the curse
. Yarn is an old hank of Creative Yarns' SouthLander in a lovely navy. Neither my webcam (inset) or my scanner (main) do it justice. Upper inset shows Alberta by Jared Flood, I can knit that sans pattern, practically in my sleep, with oh, four measurements. (Name that tune in four notes, too).

Swatching various stripe combinations and most look either too preppy or too whimsical. If bf was a tenth grade teacher I could easily do preppy/whimsy, but that won't do for this customer. Yardage requires I put some stash yarn in a stripe though, perhaps a solid band through the mid section. Onward.

I really really need to knit more socks.

They feel so good.

I'm surprised, though I shouldn't be, how many online yarn sources I've found on Ravelry. They're women-owned businesses which can be run from the basement as long as the product is kept clean and moth free.

I'm saddened by that just as I am saddened by the death of newspapers just as I read news and shop for yarn online. Sorry knitting entrepreneurs I'm not buying at the moment my stash is less than puny now thanks to Akabini.

I usually knit only for myself but I'm considering a non-sweater non-curse project for the bf. His birthday is in the fall or there's Christmas. Probably won't blog too much about it since he knows this place exists. :)

Google as a source of inspiration

Hmmmm...
I think I might have some yarn in that colorway in my stash...

And it's all Shetland weight, too...
To be continued...

The yarn pom pom hat has got to go, but...

The shape of this Diane Von Furstenberg coat is exactly what I want for my mitered squares monstrosity.

Mitered Squares

So that means a lot more knitting. Found a good schematic at the throne of fug, Berroco. Lovely shaping, there. ;)

Their version has horizontal stripes across the "butt" part. Lovely.
